2020 State Leadership (Virtual) Competition Results

​Only the top (1) Middle Level entries advance to the National Leadership Online Experience (NLE).
Only the top four (4) High School Level entries advance to the National Leadership Online Experience (NLE).

For competitive events that consist of only an online, objective test, any paid member may participate in these events at the National Leadership Online Experience (NLE) without pre-qualifying at the State Leadership Conference. Do you want to compete in NLE? If so, click (HERE).

SLC Honor Code

In order to participate in the statewide virtual competitions, all student participants must complete the Honor Code form no later than 5:00 p.m. CT on Friday, May 15, 2020.

SLC Virtual Submissions

In order to participate in the statewide virtual competitions, all student participants must complete the Virtual Submissions form no later than 5:00 p.m. CT on Friday, May 15, 2020.

SLC Virtual Competition Participation Guidelines

​Competitive events that require an objective test, prejudged project, prejudged report, or resume materials are not included in this segment of the virtual competitions.

All objective testing was conducted on February 18-20, and the final placements have already been determined for those events using the objective test scores.

All prejudged projects, reports, and resume materials were due by March 26, and the final evaluations of the prejudged projects and reports are currently underway.

General Submission Guidelines

  • Recording Presentations
    • Use any web-based meeting software that allows recording of teams when they are all in different locations, to record team presentations (team members would not have to be in the same room)
      • Recommended: Zoom
      • Note: Individual competitors may use any method they prefer to record presentations
  • Uploading Presentations
    • Videos must be posted online and submitted via an unlisted (only viewable with a link) format
      • Recommended: YouTube
      • Note: If you wish to use a method other than YouTube to post your video online, please work with your chapter adviser or your school technology coordinators to assist in posting an unlisted video
    • Videos must be unlocked for viewing purposes
*It is highly recommended that competitors do practice videos and practice online postings beforehand to make sure that the video posting works as needed.  However, the practice videos cannot be of your competitive event entry.

  • #Presentation with Equipment: competitors would be allowed to share their screen to aid in presenting their project.  If sharing screen, the competitor would also have to still be seen while presenting.
  • ^Presentation without Equipment: competitors would not be allowed to share their screen while presenting.
  • *Has a case study that will be released via email to students with a completed Honor Code form on file at 3:00 p.m. CT on May 15, with guidelines for prep time and recording presentation for judges
  • A video will be submitted for judging. This video submission shall adhere to the following guidelines:
    • Only the student(s) registered for the event may appear in the presentation.
    • Students must conform to the FBLA-PBL Dress Code while recording the video.
    • Videos shall be submitted in one take. This means that only one video per competitor/team may be submitted. The submission shall not be edited.
    • Submissions may not be re-shot for any reason, including quality of performance, mistakes, etc.
    • Teleprompters, cue cards, or other off-screen aids for competitors may not be used.
    • For events classified as Presentations Without Equipment, notes or note cards are allowed.
    • For events that allow materials, visual aids, portfolios, etc. they may be shown to the judges as part of the recorded presentation. They cannot be uploaded in any way as part of the presentation, as this would violate the competitive event guidelines about not leaving any materials with judges.
    • For Presentations with Equipment and Demonstrations, students may utilize projectors/presentations (example: PowerPoints), should they choose to use them.
    • Students would be allowed to share their computer screen for events categorized as Presentations with Equipment and Demonstration. If sharing the screen, students must still be seen in the recording.
    • The question and answer portion will be eliminated, so competitors should endeavor to address all portions of the rating sheet in their presentation.
    • The total presentation time shall not be extended by the amount of time allotted for Q&A. Any presentations that go over the time listed on the rating sheet, will receive a penalty deduction.​

  • *Has a prompt that will be released via email to students with a completed Honor Code form on file at 3:00 p.m. CT on May 15, with guidelines for prep time and recording presentation for judges
  • A video will be submitted for judging. This video submission shall adhere to the following guidelines:
    • Only the student(s) registered for the event may appear in the presentation.
    • Students must conform to the FBLA Dress Code while recording the video.
    • You will record yourself during the preparation time, as well as the actual presentation in one seamless video.
    • Videos shall be submitted in one take. This means that only one video per competitor/team may be submitted. The submission shall not be edited.
    • Submissions may not be re-shot for any reason, including quality of performance, mistakes, etc.
    • Students are not permitted to practice “off-camera” before the presentation.
    • Students must move from the preparation time to the presentation without any practice time between.
    • Teleprompters, cue cards, or other off-screen aids for competitors may not be used. However, note cards are allowed during the preparation and performance.
    • The role play with judges will be eliminated, so competitors should endeavor to address all portions of the case study and the rating sheet in their presentation.
    • Because the role play component will be eliminated, presentations will only have the amount of time allotted in the event guidelines.
    • All cases, prep materials, student notes, and associated materials must be destroyed after completion of the video.

Demonstration Events

  • Competitors would be allowed to share screen to aid in demonstrating project. If sharing screen, the competitor would also have to still be seen while demonstrating.
